Spa days; relaxing, fun, luxurious and an easy way to keep the woman in your life (whether that’s your sister, mum, or partner) happy for at least 12 hours.
I bloody love a good spa sesh; it’s always one of those days that I aim to do more often but unfortunately, as is the case for most of us, life just gets in the way a little!
So when the lovely folk at Buy a Gift offered me a chance to have one of their experiences for free, a spa day was a pretty obvious choice; obviously I looked at the likes of zorbing, skydiving and zip wiring….. buuuut sometimes a gal just needs a pamper.
I took mam along as a birthday treat and we booked up at the Bannatyne Spa in Sutton Coldfield. I know most people wouldn’t usually associate Bannatyne with a spa day, you mainly think of a gym session or workout, but the spa area was not to be overlooked!
When we arrived I can honestly say that all of the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful; we were quickly given the details we needed for our day, filled in the necessary forms and then had a tour of the facilities; a really welcoming introduction. We were given the option of a ‘Spa Bag’ which consisted of a towel, robe and slippers in a canvas bag for £3; we were then able to keep the slippers and bag at the end of the day.
One of the things I really liked about the spa itself was the Relaxation Room; not all spas have these and it is a really nice area to relax after your treatment instead of rushing to the pool. Sit yourself down on a bed, get under the blanket, grab a magazine and drink plenty of water, all in a candlelit room – bliss.
We both went for the Lava Shell Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage and Tummy Treatment in a dual room. I can’t say I have dabbled with a lava shell massage before so to be honest I didn’t have a clue what to expect!
I have to say a big shout out to Elle at this point; she was so friendly and professional, and carried out my treatment perfectly, even offering me an alternative if I wasn’t quite feeling the massage. I would quite happily go back to her for further treatments!
The Lava Shell Massage was just what I needed! The shells were heated up and filled with oil, then massaged over my body, with the oil being released from the shells. I am a big fan of using oils in my skincare anyway and it felt pretty damn lush all heated up and massaged in; super relaxing! It was such a nice experience and I could have stayed there pretty much all day; not a bad way to spend a rainy Wednesday!
To finish off I spent quite a bit of time in the Jacuzzi doing absolutely nothing!
I would definitely recommend Buy a Gift especially for any people who are a little awkward to buy for, or those who just have everything! I have used them multiple times in the past and have never been disappointed; the prices are reasonable, they have regular offers and a huge range of experiences to choose from. You can choose specific, individual experiences or opt for one of the Smartboxes; this way the recipient can choose their experience from an extensive list, choosing their location too; a good shout for those who are rather picky, you know the ones who always feel they would have made a better choice themselves…; we’ve all got them!
You simply choose the experience that you want and it is gifted to the recipient as a voucher; once they know what and where they are doing/going, they contact the venue itself to book; you usually have at least 10 months to use the voucher and there is a free exchange policy for those who weren’t quite feeling your choice of ‘experience’. Oh and don’t stress if you’ve left to a Christmas Eve shopping job as you can have the vouchers emailed to you instead within 2 hours; so there is no excuse for the predictable sock/shower gel present on Christmas morning. Experiences range from spa days, nights away, driving experiences, meals out, river cruises, chocolate making classes and so so much more!
So as Christmas is creeping upon us, and if like me you’re stuck for that perfect gift, then take a look at Buy a Gift for everything from driving experiences, afternoon tea, pamper days, and everything else in between! You can choose by price (yep thank me later bank balance), location and activity so it shouldn’t take you long to find a damn good gift, for those who deserve it, obviously!
