I am a huge fan of NYX already; my only bug bear is it can be tricky to get my hands on the range. You can order online but I like to get up close and personal with products, especially when it comes to makeup; I struggle with the right shade particularly when it comes to foundation and concealer so when it’s something new I tend not to order online.
As I was in Leeds last week I noticed a few people walking around with the NYX bags so I was determined to hunt the concession down and have a little retail therapy myself; hello haul time!
Anyone that reads my blog will know my love for matte liquid lipsticks so it’s no surprise that I picked up another two of the Soft Matte Lip Creams to go with the other three beauties from NYX already in my collection (read my post here).
I picked up the shades Madrid (a really dark, brown/red shade) and Cairo (a light, peach/nude shade). I would say with the darker shades they cover much better (and I find that with most liquid lipsticks, the darker the better coverage) but you do need a lip liner, and for the lighter shades I find sometimes blotting afterwards makes a real difference as sometimes it can look a tad patchy.
These lipsticks always feel amazing, like putting powder on your lips. No tackiness, no drying out, and to be honest I forget I am wearing them most of the time. Longevity wise they are pretty good but not as long lasting as the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets; but for the price you can’t complain and considering I have 5 in my collection now, it’s not really a major downfall.
I also picked up another of the HD Concealers in ‘Light’ as I originally bought the shade ‘Fair’ which is a little too pale for me right now.
When it comes to blusher I tend to stick to my trusty Nars and MAC options but I wanted something drugstore friendly and something a little more on the coral side for the summer months. I went for the Ombre Blush in Strictly Chic as it looked so gorgeous and I loved the ombre effect. It is more on the coral/peach side and gives a gorgeous finish on the skin, nothing too shimmery but enough there to see a difference. It’s just too pretty to be honest and I will definitely be getting my fill of this!
Last up it was mascara and I went for the Lush Lashes Mascara XXL. I have never tried a mascara from NYX and it is the only product I am yet to try out so I will be letting you know how I get on with this one pretty soon. If it is anything like the other products I’ve used from the range I am pretty sure I will be one happy camper.
If I remember rightly it cost about £32 for all of these which even though I am trying to save a little (slaps wrist!!) is pretty damn good for this amount of products.
If you are still to try anything from this range then get on it; majorly purse friendly and blooming good quality.
