The Spring Beauty Edit

The Spring Beauty Edit 1

Ok so I may be a little slow on the uptake with this one, but to be honest the great British weather has been considerably shoddy of late and has only just started to warm up a touch. So I thought until it felt a bit more like spring, I wouldn’t post my beauty edit; see method in my madness.

I am always a huge fan of a dark, bold lip, in particular I am a sucker for a gorgeous red lip, and as much as I carry on wearing this look all year round, when the weather gets a little nicer I do prefer sometimes to opt for a more feminine, pretty, peachy/pink look.

Fragrance: My newest recruit to my collection, Estee Lauders Modern Muse Eau De Rouge; feminine, fruity and floral; the perfect spring/summer scent for both daytime and evening.

Brows: As ever my trusty Maybelline Brow Satin in Medium Brown. With a waxy pencil at one end and a sponge with powder on the other to fill in, it is a bloody brilliant offering from the drugstore side of things in terms of quality and price at £5.99.

Mascara: Again another newbie to my collection; the latest offering from Tarte with their Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. This gives quite a dramatic look and coats the lashes really well. It definitely adds volume and length and is available in waterproof too.

Concealer: Again from Tarte, Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. I love the packaging for this as it is lightweight and in a plastic tube so great for travelling. This stuff is thick, I mean seriously thick so you only need the tiniest amount which means at least this product will last you a fair while. I blend with my finger and a brush and don’t find that it creases. I have the shade Fair which is slightly too light at the moment for me but it gives a really nice illuminating look underneath my eyes and is great for dark circles and blemishes. Also another plus point is the shade range with 14 to choose from.

Eyeliner: I love the Automatic Precision Eyeliner and Khol from Kiko in 712 for so many reasons. It blends really well and applies very easily. I don’t find I have to really pull at my eye to get it to smudge and I like that it is twist up and no need to sharpen. The blender on the other side works really well and I do actually use this to help smudge the liner a touch. Affordable and great quality, I would happily pick up another of these.

Lips: Two offerings here, one matte and one more of a creamy satin. First up is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan. These are ridiculously popular and I can see why. I have three shades and they are all gorgeous, apply well, don’t dry out the lips and give a gorgeous matte finish. They aren’t the most long lasting I have tried but considering they are so easy to apply, topping up throughout the day is pretty simple.  Second is one the Make Me Beautiful Soft Rose Lip Crayon from Next. Both are gorgeous dusky pink shades; the one from Next is much creamy and more of a satin finish. It builds colour really well and again doesn’t dry out the lips.

Eyes: I have been getting a lot of use out of my MAC quad lately, in particular with Woodwinked and All That Glitters. Both are two very popular shades and it is easy to see why as they work perfectly on their own but also blend really nicely with other colours. A quick swash gives a simple, understated look or you can really build it for a more defined look.

Cheeks: NARS are amazing for blush and I love this duo set I picked up in a Christmas set. It has two shades, Deep Throat and Amour; both utterly gorgeous. I tend to mix my brush over both as they work really well together but don’t go overboard as they are pretty pigmented.

So there you have my slightly belated Spring Beauty Edit; I hope it gives you some new products to try and of course an excuse to go shopping…. #sorrynotsorry
